We, the Cerro Gordo Youth league ,have implemented the following Sports parent code of conduct for the important message that it holds. About the proper role of parents in supporting their child in sports. Parents should read and understand this form prior to their children participating in our league. By signing your child up you have clicked the box and agreed upon these terms below. 

Any parent guilty of improper conduct at any game or practice will be asked to leave the sports facilities be suspended from the following game or season, depending on the severity of the violation. Repeat violations may cause multiple game suspension or season forfeiture of attending all games. 

The essential elements of character building and ethics in sports are embodied in concept of sportsmanship and six core principles : 

Trustworthiness,

Respect, 

Fairness,

Responsibility,

Caring,and 

Good citizenship 

The highest potential of sports is achieved when competition reflects these “ six pillars of character .” 

I will not force my child to participate in sports .

I will remember that children participate to have fun and that the game is for youth and not adults . 

I will inform the coach of any physical disability or ailment that may affect the safety of others.

I will learn the rules of the game and policies of the league. 

I (and my guests ) will be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy ,and by demonstrating positive support for all players , volunteer coaches, officials and spectators at every game ,practice or other sporting event . 

I ( and my guests) will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official , volunteer coach,player,or parent such as : booing, taunting,refusal to shake hands, ; or using profane language or gestures. 

I will not encourage any behaviors or practices that will endanger the health or being of the athletes. 

It is my responsibility to get my child to games and practice on time. 

I will teach my child to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.

I will demand that my child treat other placers, coaches, officials and spectators with respect regardless of race, creed, color, sex or ability.

I will refrain from coaching from the stands. I will accept that my child’s coach is a volunteer and they are doing their best. I will remember that if I don’t like the way they coach ,I can volunteer myself to help coach their team. 

I will remember that these are children. I will never ridicule or yell at my child or other children for making a mistake or losing a competition.

I will respect the officials and their authority during games and will never question, discuss, or confront coaches at the game (before or after). I will take time to speak to them at an agreed upon time and place. 

I will not ask about my child’s playing time or position on the court or field. Accept the placement of your child on the team.If you want more for your child ,then work more with your child in the off time and help out more with practice.

I will do my best to help out with whatever I can whether it's helping the coach in the dugout, scorekeeper, selling raffle tickets, working concessions, tossing balls in practice, helping the coach with drills, 

Once again ,I have a little grace and undertaking that this entire organization is based off of volunteers and anyone can help.
